Commotion on the parkway in Ocean County due to state police pursuit
A nearly two-hour New Jersey State Police pursuit of teen motorcycle riders on the Garden State Parkway and through Ocean County ended with a 16-year-old finally surrendering to authorities.
The chase began around 5:45 p.m. when State Police received a call about a pack of teens on motorcycles hindering traffic on the Parkway, according to the Asbury Park Press.
When troopers closed in, the pack split up, with one of the riders exiting the Parkway in Beachwood. A State Police helicopter followed the motorcycle as it traveled back onto the toll road and along the shoulder, until eventually exiting again in Lakewood, according to authorities.
The teen finally surrendered around 7:30 p.m., authorities said.
No injuries or accidents resulted from the chase, according to State Police.
