A college student from New Jersey has gone missing from the University of New Haven campus in Connecticut and police and relatives are worried about her safety.

Allie McGrory, 18, of Medford, arrived on campus on Tuesday for the start of the spring semester but went missing the next day.

Campus police said she sent a friend a text message saying she was distraught.

Police said they are “concerned about her well being.” Her family told reporters that they are terrified and don't know why she might be distraught.

Police were alerted after a dorm resident called to say that she hadn’t been seen for 24 hours.

McGrory — 5-feet-2-inches tall and 130 pounds with brown eyes and hair — is a marine biology major and plays softball.

Anyone with information is asked to call university police at 203-932-7014.
