In the penultimate season of American Idol, Ocean County was well represented when Beachwood's Courtney Zahn impressed the judges enough to make it past the auditions and on to Hollywood.

We had to eat a little crow when we got just as caught up in a viral story as everyone else. There were multiple reports going around, saying that nurses who show ID at local Dunkin' Donuts could get free coffee. The only problem? It wasn't true.

Late May was the beginning of the summer season in Ocean County. It was also the beginning of a disturbing trend - "swatting", where someone calls in an anonymous threat. This one cleared out the Ocean County Mall.

From a teacher, to a cop, and 30 others, this wide ranging investigation brought in people suspected of trafficking in everything from marijuana to heroin, and even prescription drugs. A number of Ocean County residents were caught in the statewide dragnet.
