New Jersey 101.5 video

It's been another bad week for Gov. Chris Christie.

First, a Quinnipiac University Poll on Monday found that Christie is one of the most unpopular American governors in a generation. And on Thursday, sources told the New York Times that he would not be getting the job of chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Christie expressed interest in the job during his November appearance on New Jersey 101.5’s “Ask the Governor,” saying it would be “a great opportunity to build on a Republican majority in the country.”

He has declined to comment on any discussions he may have had with President-elect Donald Trump about possible appointments to a federal post.

Christie has insisted that he intends to remain governor until his term expires in 2018. He would have been able to stay on as governor while leading the party, the Times report says.

Christie was ousted as Trump's transition committee chairman shortly after the election.

Christie in November said that any suggestion that he is on the outs with Trump is "crap."

Trump on Thursday was expected to name fast-food executive Andrew Puzder to lead the Labor Department, according to The Associated Press. Puzder heads CKE Restaurants Holdings, the parent of Carl's Jr., Hardee's and other chains.
