Christie Snubbed By National Conservatives? [VIDEO]

The backlash from some national conservatives over Governor Christie working with President Obama in the days after Superstorm Sandy continues as he has not been asked to address the Conservative Political Action Conference scheduled for March in Washington because he is conservative enough.

Sources tell National Review that recent moves by Christie are not in line with the Conference's theme, "the future of conservatism."

Christie's support of New Jersey's strict gun laws and today's announcement during his budget address that the state will accept Obamacare's Medicaid expansion dollars all worked against the governor.

Christie was the keynote speaker at the 2012 Conference last June in Chicago. The appearance  prompted Democrats to create a video comparing the governor to Romney. At the time Christie was a leading candidate to be named Romney's running mate.

The Washington Post reports that other potential 2016 GOP candidates including Louisiana Governor  Bobby Jindal, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky and 2012 GOP candidates Mitt Romney and Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan  have all been invited to speak so far.

“(The) CPAC schedule is still being finalized, with several more announcements pending over the next three weeks,” CPAC spokeswoman Laura Rigas told the Washington Post.

An appearance before CPAC  is considered to be a must for Republicans considering a run for the White House.

Low Profile At Governor's Meeting

Christie kept a low profile at the National Governor's Association meeting in Washington; he arrived on Sunday and attended a dinner at the White House wtith his oldest son Andrew as his guest. He returned on Monday for a speech by President Obama about the budget sequester and the threat to states but did not speak to reporters afterwards.

At the NGA's Sunday dinner he met up with California Governor Jerry Brown but and posed  for a picture posted by Brown's wife Anne but did not renew their war of words from last summer's Republican convention according to the Tribune of San Luis Obispo

While addressing California Republican delegates, he called the 74-year-old Brown an "old retread." In response, Brown challenged "to a three-mile race, a push-up contest and a chin-up contest. Whatever he wants to bet, I have no doubt of the outcome.”
