Christie Deemed “No Longer Conservative Enough” To Be Invited To Conference [POLL]
The head of the group putting together the Conservative Political Action Conference says Governor Christie has not been invited to address this year’s event because he has been less conservative politically in the past year but the Governor isn’t too worried.
“CPAC is like the all-star game for professional athletes; you get invited when you have had an outstanding year,” American Conservative Union Chairman Al Cardenas told National Journal. “Hopefully he will have another all-star year in the future, at which time we will be happy to extend an invitation. This is a conservative conference, not a Republican Party event.”
Christie isn’t concerned about not being invited to speak .“I didn’t know at I hadn’t been invited to CPAC until like two days ago when I saw it in the news,” he told the Washington Post. “I can’t sweat the small stuff.”
“Slobbering Love Affair” With The Obamas
Cardenas cites Christie’s support of the $60 billion Sandy aid package, which he believes to be full of wasteful spending, and the Governor’s acceptance of Medicaid dollars as part of Obamacare as major examples of why Christie did not have an “outstanding” year as a conservative.
In accepting the money during his budget address, he is not a fan of the overall Obamacare plan.
“Let me be clear, I am no fan of the Affordable Care Act. I think it is wrong for New Jersey and for America,” Christie insisted in a speech today. “I fought against it and believe, in the long run, it will not achieve what it promises. However, it is now the law of the land.”
Christie has been berated by the right since he stopped campaigning for Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign as Superstorm Sandy hit New Jersey and worked with President Obama to bring relief to New Jersey and was criticized for sitting with first lady Michelle Obama at the National Governors Association dinner at the White House Sunday night.
“The slobbering love affair between GOP Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey and Team Obama continues to blossom,” wrote the conservative news site Twitchy on Sunday. “Smoochie, smoochie.”
