Residents throughout the Jersey Shore , as well as around the World, have grown up on an American Classic!

Sesame Street turns 42 today, making its broadcast debut on this day in history in 1969. Growing up in Ocean County I have fond memories of watching the gang and learning my letters & numbers! OK I dont actually remember I was too little, but I am sure Sesame Street helped me along the way.

Did you watch Sesame Street growing up ? Do your children and/or Grandchidlren ? Who is your favorite character ?

Alil history about the show.... it was created by Joan Gamz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett. The program is known for its combination of Jim Hennson's Muppets, animation, short films, humor, and cultural references.

Local residents will remember watching Sesame Street on channel 12 or 13 here in New Jersey. That and a bowl of cereal started many a Jersey Shore morning !

One great highlight was for my Family to meet Bob McGrath during a visit he made to the Ocean County Library System! What a great person and yes he wore a sweater! lol
