HORSHAM, PA — Fans of Entenmann’s Little Bites muffins might want to check their pantries. The bakery that produces the tiny treats issued a recall after small pieces of plastic were found inside the packages.

Bimbo Bakeries USA Inc. announced the voluntary recall Wednesday after receiving consumer reports of plastic in the product. The FDA says one injury was reported, but the nature of the injury was not released. The FDA says the small pieces of plastic present a "choking and/or cutting hazard."

"All of the recalled products are being removed from store shelves," the FDA said on its website.

The products being recalled include: Entenmann’s Little Bites Fudge Brownies (five-pack), Chocolate Chip Muffins (five-pack and 10-pack boxes) and Variety Pack (20-pack).

The presence of the plastic, the FDA says, is the result of a "manufacturing failure at a contract manufacturer’s bakery in Illinois." Click here for a list of the products' "best by" dates and UPC codes. In each case, the code number “3098” is printed next to the "best by date on the box, the FDA announced.

The boxes of muffins were distributed to retail stores during the last two weeks. No other Entenmann’s products are affected.
