Yesterday I was in Point Pleasant Beach for the annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Great Strides walk. Despite the chilly, rainy weather, not only did we have a great turnout, but charity sandcastle builders were hard at work too.

Ever since March, the "Sandy Castle" has been taking shape on the beach right next to Jenkinson's Pavilion.

As you can see above, the scaffolding has reached a good 3 stories high or so at this point, and organizers are aiming for a final height of 50 feet (and, with that, a new world record).

The super sandcastle is expected to be completed next month, and with a donation to Hometown Heroes, you'll be able to check it out for yourself. In the mean time, you can stop by the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk, watch the bucket brigade hard at work, cheer them on, snap some pictures, and of course make a donation to Hometown Heroes while you're there.

Have you gotten a chance to check out the Sandy Castle work in progress yet?
