Amtrak ordered to expand speed control system at derail site

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Federal officials announced Saturday that Amtrak must immediately expand its use of a speed restriction system on Philadelphia's northbound rails where a speeding train reached 106 mph, flew off the tracks and crashed, killing eight people.

Wreckage is removed from Amtrak crash site

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The last wrecked railcars from the deadly Amtrak accident were removed Friday as investigators tried to figure out why the train sped up from 70 mph to over 100 mph in the minute before it went into a sharp bend.
