Car-Truck Head-On in Toms River Leaves Manchester Driver Hospitalized
A horrific head-on collision between a dump truck and a compact car in Toms River leaves a Manchester 35-year-old hospitalized with internal and leg injuries.
Brandon Burris, 25, was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center shortly after police arrived at the site on Whitesville Road near Jumping Brook Drive around 1:30 PM today.
Witnesses told police that Burris's car was traveling northbound when it veered to the southbound side, into the path of the truck belonging to George Harms Construction Company. The driver, Chris Gratzel, was uninjured, police say.
The crash forced a closure of Whitesvill Road in the vicinity for about an hour during investigations.
Toms River Traffic Officers Mark Nater, David Bartoshek and Robert Westfall are assigned to the followup along with members of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and Sheriff's Department.
