Cars stolen out of Monmouth and Sussex Counties lead to four arrests in South Brunswick of two groups of teens involved in car thefts.

On Monday around 5:30 pm, investigators say three juveniles from Somerset County, were in a gold colored Toyota Camry stolen from Franklin Township October 31.

They filled up the tank at the Exxon gas station on Route 27 in South Brunswick then left without paying headed on New Road towards Route 1, the attendant told police.

After a car chase on Major Road and then Route 1 north, the driver began making turns onto Executive Drive, Cornwall Road and Northumberland Way before returning to Route 1.

They went into the Royal Oaks Apartment complex, abandoned the car on Timberline Court after crashing into a parked car and then ran.

Following a journey through the woods and into an a waiting Uber, police tracked their names using Bluetooth in the stolen car which linked the juveniles suspects cell phones in addition to a high school hall pass with one of their names on it.

They were later arrested by police who ran the license plate prior to.

All were charged with eluding an officer, receiving stolen property, and theft and then released pending their first court appearance.

On Saturday around 10:25 pm in South Brunswick, four different teens were in a stolen 2015 Toyota Corolla from Hazlet, joy riding down Route 1 near Henderson Road and evaded police at speeds of over 75 mph after an initial pull-over on Jersey Avenue where the driver decided to head off before an officer approached the car.

Police did not pursue the car at that dangerous speed.

The juveniles crashed the car near Route 27 on Jersey Avenue in New Brunswick and fled.

An Ocean County teen was arrested in New Brunswick and charged with joyriding.

The other three remain on the run.

"In these two cases juveniles with little concern for public safety drove stolen cars throughout the Township," Chief Raymond Hayducka. "They committed crimes and attempted to elude officers. The coordination and skill the officers displayed with capturing the suspects without injury or harm is a testament to their training and excellent police work."
