According to township police, the teen was alone in a Subaru, southbound, and turned left onto Mapletree Road at 9:49 AM.

Inside the turn, the car slid sideways, careened into a curb, bounded into a guy wire attached to a utility pole, and turned onto its side.

It isn't clear whether road conditions factored into the crash, but scattered morning showers left roads damp and slick.

An attending officer cited him for careless driving.
