A Manchester woman is hospitalized for treatment of head, hand and knee injuries after being trapped in her overturned car in a township adult community, according to township police.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the 2016 Buick Verano driven by Sharon Watkins, 74, to veer off a sidestreet, hit a tree, and flip on its roof Tuesday. Her car was the only one involved.

Police were summoned at about 3:27 PM on February 28, finding the car in the middle of Quail Street in Cedar Glen West. Officers learned that she was eastbound on Quail, near Heron, when the crash occurred.

The driver was rushed to Community Medical Center in Toms River.

Members of the Manchester Volunteer First Aid Squad, MONOC Paramedics, and Ridgeway volunteer firefighters also responded to the site.
