Two Brick Township residents remain in critical condition at Jersey Shore Medical Center following a serious crash early Saturday morning. According to Brick Police, Waleed M. Emara was allegedly operating a silver 2009 Infinity around 2 a.m. on Saturday when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a utility pole. The vehicle then rolled several times, tossing Emara and passenger Steven M. WIlson out of the car.

Witnesses driving on Cherry Quay road, where the accident occurred, allege Emara crossed over the double-yellow line to pass them at high speeds before losing sight of the vehicle when the roadway curved. While they did not witness the actual crash, when they came upon the overturned vehicle they stopped to assist and call police.

According to Sergeant David Bedrosian of the Brick Township Police Traffic Safety Unit, the downed utility pole housed a transformer. JCP&L are still making repairs to downed wires as well as the transformer and utility pole.
