In a world full of self-help books, programs, and videos, it's easy to be suspicious or doubtful.  But I have found something that really is helpful so I want to share.

It involves waking up a bit earlier than usual and having some time just for yourself.  I'm not just talking about enjoying a cup of coffee in a quiet house before the kids wake up.  I'm talking about something that's called "The Miracle Morning."  The guy who wrote a book of the same name, Hal Elrod, swears we can all benefit by starting our morning off in a positive way.

He says even self-proclaimed Night Owls can do his recommended morning ritual which involves what he calls S.A.V.E.R.S.:Silence, Affirmations, Visualizations, Exercise, Reading, and Scribing.  While spreading each of those things out over the course of an hour is ideal, the author says it's fine to squeeze everything into a shorter amount of time.

Even if you are the busiest person in Ocean County, you can probably invest 6 minutes in your well-being.  Here's a link to Elrod's "6 Minute Miracle Morning."  http://halelrod.com/6-minute-miracle-morning/

I've been doing these things for about 40 minutes each day and I'm really feeling the benefits!  While it's sometimes tempting to hit the snooze button, once I get going with the SAVERS, it feels good!  It's a nice way to jump-start the day and I find I'm sustaining that energy throughout most of the days.

If you've ever done the Miracle Morning practice or think you might want to try, please drop me a line or post a message in the Comments section.   If you're about to try it, good luck!
