Charles L. Walls, 33, and Anthony T. Ervin, 25, are the subjects of a 34-count indictment reached Thursday in Mercer County, according to the office of acting New Jersey Attorney General Robert Lougy.

Walls is jailed in Camden County, with bail set at $1,000,000, cash only. Ervin is jailed in Burlington County, with bail set at $1,000,000 cash or bond.

Both are charged with eight first-degree robbery counts, as well as first-degree attempted murder for the January 10, 2014 robbery of the convenience store branch in Pennsauken. A 28-year-old clerk form Paulsboro was shot four times and left paralyzed. A third suspect in the robbery has yet to be identified.

Additionally, they are charged with second- and third-degree aggravated assault, second-degree conspiracy, eight second-degree counts of possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, a second-degree charge of possession of a weapon as a convicted felon, and four third-degree counts of cirminal restraint.

Each first-degree charge, the most serious, carries a possible prison term of 10 to 20 years on conviction.

After the Pennsauken incident, robberies continued from April 27 until June 13, in Cherry Hill, Moorestown, Hamilton Township (Mercer County), Medford Lakes, Marlton and Blackwood. Investigators contend that Walls and Ervin were abetted by a third suspect in two same-day robberies in Hamilton and Medford Lakes.

Walls and Ervin allegedly pulled the robberies in the early morning hours, driving up in a reddish-orange Chevrolet Sonic and clad in masks, hooded sweatshirts and gloves, one taking cash from the tills and cigarettes while the other held clerks at gunpoint.

Store clerks were bound with zip ties in four of the robberies, investigators said.

Walls was arrested June 13, 2014, in an operation involving several agencies coordinated by the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. Detectives found a Ruger 40-caliber handgun, tobacco products, and shoes and clothes consistent with those worn in the robbieries, authorities said.

They also found the Sonic, in which detectives reportedly found latex gloves and zip ties. Ervin was arrested October 8, 2014.
