A Camden County man who shot a man he was fighting near East Broad and Library Street in Burlington City back in January pleads guilty Friday to first degree aggravated manslaughter.

Under terms agreed upon with the Burlington County Prosecutors Office, Irie Y. Simmons, 19, of Pennsauken will be sentenced to 19-years in state prison for the murder of Eric Thomas Jr., 30, of Eastampton January 21.

Simmons must serve 85-percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

Xavier L. Myers, 20, of Cinnaminson was charged with aggravated assault for his role in the incident.

Thomas passed away shortly after the fight at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro.

The investigation was conducted by detectives from the City of Burlington Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.
