Eramus Canty, 31, was apprehended without incident just after midnight on December 19 in Asbury Park, according to the office of Burlington County Prosecutor Robert Bernardi. His bail hearing is scheduled for this afternoon in Burlington County Superior Court.

Investigators believe that Canty entered the Quck N Go on Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and demanded money from Matthew Mwinsori, 42, which escalated into a fight between them in the parking lot, ending when Canty allegedly opened fire.

Police who responded to a report of gunshots found Mwinsori still alive in the street. He was pronounced dead about an hour later at Lourdes Medical Center in Willingboro, authorities said.

Information and descriptions of Canty and his red Dodge Charger were sent to police throughout the region. The car was spotted in the lot of an Asbury Park convenience store.
