Buono Brings Star Power To Campaign
Although Barbara Buono has been critical of Governor Chris Christie's frequent appearances on national television shows, she is bringing in some star power to her campaign on Sunday.
Kerry Washington, star of the ABC drama Scandal, is a cousin of Milly Silva, Buono's Lieutenant Governor nominee and will headline a Buono campaign event at Montclair State University on Sunday.
According to Buono's website, "Buono and Silva will outline essential steps to revitalize New Jersey’s sluggish economy." Washington, who lives in Los Angeles, "will talk about why the Buono-Silva ticket is best for New Jersey workers and families.:
Washington has tweeted her support a number of times for Buono. She also addressed the Democrat National Convention in 2012 about her support for President Obama.
Eva Longoria of Desparate Housewives has campaigned for Newark Mayor Cory Booker in his special Senate campaign and Oprah Winfrey offered an endorsement at the Whitesboro reunion last weekend.
Hoboken-based "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro has endored Chris Christie in the gubernatorial race and is serving as chairman of a Small Business For Christie coalition.
Christie has also worked with Jon Bon Jovi on a bill grants criminal and civil immunity to people helping a drug overdose victim. Bon Jovi also serves on Christie's Governor’s Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund and made a $1 million donation to help with relief efforts in his hometown on Sayreville.
