Browns Mills landscape business owner Louis Sweet was shot dead late Tuesday night by men who invaded his home in a wooded area according to police.

Joel Bewley, spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office says several armed people wearing masks shot Sweet, 36, at his Lakehurst Road home around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night. They also shot his dog.

Investigators tell WPVI that some of the group stayed outside while others went inside and fought with a woman inside.

Sweet's five children were also home at the time but were not harmed. The dog was taken to a veterinary hospital according to WCAU TV.

Police found Sweet laying in his front yard and took him to a hospital where he died an hour later.WCAU TV reports Sweet was shot multiple times in the chest.

Sweet is the owner of Little Lou's Tree Service which is also located at his home.

Police continue their investigation into the shooting and a motive. Anyone with information about the shooting should call the  Burlington County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit at 609-265-5059.

The murder is the fifth in Burlington County this year and the second in Pemberton Township according to the Burlington County Times.
