Brothers Charged with Burlington Double Knifing
Two brothers from Maple Shade face serious charges related to the early Sunday knife attack on two men - also brothers - in an apartment complex in which all four live.
Franklin Andoval Avila, 22, and Marco Veletanga Sandoval, 18, of the Fox Meadow residential units, are charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, according to information from the office of Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi.
Bail for each was set at $250,000. They're being held pending a grand jury hearing.
Daniel Tapia, 31, is listed in stable condition at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, with stab wounds of the face, neck and abdomen, police said.
Pedro Tapia, 27, was treated for an abdominal stab wound and released from Cooper, police said.
Authorities are still searching for a motive.
Investigators say that Avila was found on nearby Gardenia Drive after the 2 AM incident. He was treated at Cooper for hand cuts. Sandoval was arrested in Moorestown by local police and treated for hand cuts at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly.
