The New Yorker who led New Jersey State Troopers on a 100-mile-per-hour chase through two shore counties on the Garden State Parkway before crashing  in April admitted that he was strung out on LSD at the time, and faces a September sentencing.

In Freehold, Samuel F. Bompane, 23, of Brooklyn, pleaded guilty to second-degree charges of eluding, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and driving while intoxicated, and a third-degree count of assault by auto, according to information from the office of acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni.

Prosecutors are recommending a total of 16 years in a state prison, with a stipulation of three years and three months before parole eligibility.

The wild ride took place on April 21. Bompane admitted that he had a pile of illicit drugs in his car which he planned to deal, and had taken 20 tabs of LSD earlier in the day, authorities said. The contraband inlcuded more than a half-ounce of cocaine, more than five pounds of marijuana, and in excess of an ounce of psilocybin.

Bompane said he floored itit to shake state troopers in Ocean County, who dropped pursuit as they approached construction in Toms River, authorities said.

Bompane continued in excess of 100 mph until he reached Holmdel, bounced off a guard rail and careened into an SUV driven by a 32-year-old woman from Bloomfield, authorities said. She sustained an arm fracture severe enough to expose bone.

His sentencing is scheduled for September 4.
