Members of VFW Post 8867 will burn about 15,000 retired American flags collected throughout Ocean County.

The Post has done this every Flag Day for the past forty years in accordance with tradition that dictates that flags not be thrown away once they are no longer able to be displayed.

The ceremony starts at 6 a.m. and runs until about 12 noon.
