Brick Township Mugging Victim’s Death May Upgrade Charges Against Suspects
The overnight death of a 35-year-old Brick Township man who was robbed and beaten in Asbury Park Saturday might have a bearing on charges filed against two suspects in custody.
Thomas Sudano, Jr., died before dawn today after days of hospitalization in critical condition. City police found him in response to a 911 call at the Asbury Park Garden Apartments.
Spencer Young, 19, and a 17-year-old also from Asbury are charged with first-degree robbery.
An autopsy will establish the cause and manner of death, says Charles Webster at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. Those findings will determine whether charges will be elevated or added.
