37-year-old James Donegan and 35-year-old Amiko Donegan of Brick Township have been arrested in connected with a string of residential burglaries in the Green Briar Woodlands Retirement Community, according to Toms River Police Department spokesman Ralph Stocco.

The Donegan's allegedly broke into unoccupied homes during the day, stealing jewelry, cash, and other valuables, according to Stocco.

Investigators developed leads over the last four months with cooperation from police departments in Brick, Berkeley, Ocean Gate and Lacey. Stocco said Berkeley Township police executed a search warrant of the couple's Ebb Tide Drive home and found evidence related to the burglaries, including the vehicle they used.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are expected as evidence is identified, according to Stocco.

The Donegan's were charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and two counts of criminal mischief.  They were being held in the Ocean County on $150,000 bail each.
