Brick Township Car Burglary Suspect Nabbed, Probe Still Open
A Brick Township 20-year-old is under arrest in connection with a rash of Monday predawn car burglaries. Police are now trying to determine if the investigation extends beyond the incidents reported to them.
According to authorities, Michael Strutton was apprehended based on witness accounts during their probe of the lootings reported between 5 AM and 6:30 AM along Marbro Avenue in the township’s Herbertsville section.
A witness described a white male in a black hat, black tee shirt, black shorts and sneakers working a door handle on a nearby car.
Police say Strutton was intercepted on Sweeney Avenue near Kuster Lane, still holding a silver iPod Nano and other goods taken from various vehicles.
He was charged with receiving stolen property and obstruction of administration of justice, and released on a summons.
Police are trying to identify other burglary victims and find out who owns the iPod nano. Detective Tom Cooney can be reached at 732-262-4708. The detective bureau’s main number is 732-262-1120.
