Brick Township Builder Accused of Swindling Superstorm Victims
A construction contractor from Brick Township remains free on $50,000 bail, charged with taking at least $75,000 to elevate shorefront homes but never conducting the work.
Todd Erickson, 49, was charged with second-degree theft by investigators in the office of Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato.
Erickson, operating as T&G General Contractors, took payments from at least 10 people seeking to raise their dwellings to meet new federal guidelines in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, authorities said.
Between October 2013 and May 2014, Erickson accepted money from victims in Toms River, Lavallette, Mantoloing, Seaside Heights and Manahawkin, investigators said.
Investigators believe that there might be more individuals who paid Erickson for nonexistent home repairs. Ocean County Detective James Conroy and Agent Steve Shadiack are handling inquiries at 732-929-2027.
