Hit-or-miss light rain showers are expected Wednesday, along with a mix of sun and clouds and high temperatures just below-normal.

As of this writing, radar shows a sizable blotch of rain over Pennsylvania. But you shouldn't need the umbrella all day, as almost all of that rain will fizzle and/or miss New Jersey.

Having said that, a few showers are possible throughout Wednesday. Overall, I do think Wednesday will be mostly dry for the Garden State, and we'll get some nice breaks of sun along the way too. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees - just below the current normal high of about 73 degrees.

Wednesday night will be quiet, with scattered clouds. Overnight lows should fall into the seasonable, comfortably cool upper 40s to lower 50s.

Thursday features almost a repeat forecast as Wednesday: isolated showers, light winds, partly sunny skies, and high temperatures in the upper 60s to around 70.

I hereby declare Friday as the "weather winner of the week". High temperatures will bump into the lower to mid 70s as an influx of warmer air is carried into New Jersey on a southwesterly wind. Add mostly sunny skies and a dry forecast, and Friday really looks like a fantastic Spring day.

Sigh. Don't get used to Friday's gorgeous weather, however. It looks like we'll take another turn toward wet, cool, dreary weather for the final weekend before the big Memorial Day Weekend.

Saturday looks quite wet as an area of low pressure tracks overhead. Models currently suggest the steadiest, heaviest rain would fall over the southern half of New Jersey. Central Jersey would be right on the fringe of the wet weather, and North Jersey could have another "little-to-nothing" kind of day. Regardless, the combination of raindrops and clouds will keep temperatures cool on Saturday, with highs only in the 60s for most of the state. (Maybe some chilly 50s in spots too.)

Sunday should be better, with max temperatures recovering to around 70 degrees. But another round of showers and thunderstorms will be possible by the late afternoon to early evening hours.

And the grey skies and daily rain chances look to continue for early next week. Our current forecast includes damp, dreary, and somewhat cool weather for Monday and Tuesday. I'm hoping we'll see a pattern change by midweek. Or else the clouds and showers may stick around as we approach the Memorial Day Weekend. Yikes. Way too soon for any definitive details, but it's a concern we'll be watching and updating you about regularly.
