Breaking News: Body of Swimmer Recovered off Sandy Hook

A swimmer who went missing in the waters off an unguarded Sandy Hook beach Tuesday night, was found early this morning by a fisherman, according to the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

The unidentified Monmouth County man's body washed up before 6:30 a.m. in an area close to where he we went missing. The swimmer's girlfriend reported him missing around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Crews searched for the man Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Officials with the Gateway Park Recreation Area have said it's the third time a swimmer needed a rescue there this week.
