Jackson Memorial and Barnegat are each just one win away from claiming state sectional baseball championships.  The Jaguars advanced to the Central Jersey Group 4 final after routing East Brunswick 16-4 Tuesday behind an incredible performance by Nick Babin.  The senior catcher slugged three homers and knocked in eight runs and capped his big day with a game-ending grand slam in the bottom of the 5th

What’s especially amazing about Babin’s performance was he had not homered all season prior to yesterday.  Jackson Memorial will host Monroe on Friday in the sectional final.

On that same day Barnegat will be home to face Buena as they take aim at their first-ever South Jersey Group 2 title.  The top-seeded Bengals doubled up Overbrook 6-3 Tuesday as Colin O’Connor drove in three runs while Ryan Ulrich and Jason Groome combined on a five-hitter.
