Bouncing around a bit on a Wednesday.

An associate professor at NYU, Fagin claimed the 2014 Pulitzer for General Nonfiction for his book about the dumping of industrial pollution in Toms River and the cancer cluster that followed. His presentation will be followed by a book signing.
The 3rd annual “Rock for the Nurses” fundraiser will be held Sunday at The Idle Hour on Route 88 in Point Pleasant from noon until 6pm with all proceeds to benefit the Barbara Forfar Nursing Scholarship Fund at Ocean Medical Center.
Sunday’s event will feature six hours of live music by several bands, and all-u-can-eat barbeque buffet and pig roast, tent party, raffles, giveaways and much more. Jackson Memorial and Barnegat are each just one win away from claiming state sectional baseball championships. The Jaguars advanced to the Central Jersey Group 4 final after routing East Brunswick 16-4 Tuesday behind an incredible performance by Nick Babin. The senior catcher slugged three homers and knocked in eight runs and capped his big day with a game-ending grand slam in the bottom of the 5th.
What’s especially amazing about Babin’s performance was he had not homered all season prior to yesterday. Jackson Memorial will host Monroe on Friday in the sectional final.
On that same day Barnegat will be home to face Buena as they take aim at their first-ever South Jersey Group 2 title. The top-seeded Bengals doubled up Overbrook 6-3 Tuesday as Colin O’Connor drove in three runs while Ryan Ulrich and Jason Groome combined on a five-hitter.
