Following in the footsteps of Macy's, JCPenney, K-Mart, and Sears (whose Ocean County Mall location will be closing), the next department store mainstay to announce a large group of closures is Bon-Ton.

A press release from the company today adds 42 locations to a previously announced group of 5 that were pegged for closure, bringing the total number of closing Bon-Ton operated stores to 47.

There are a pair of Bon-Ton locations in New Jersey; right here in Ocean County in Brick Plaza, and in Phillipsburg.

While the Brick location will avoid the axe and remain open, the Phillipsburg Mall store will be closing.

It'll be happening fast, too. In the press release, the company said that the closings will start tomorrow, February 1st, and will only take 10-12 weeks to complete.

You can take a look at the whole list of closing Bon-Ton locations and see the press release for yourself by clicking here.

We'll of course keep you updated if there are any more closings announced, and if any will impact us here in Ocean County.
