JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST — Things might get a bit loud this evening as a military unit detonates a 45-pound explosive at New Jersey's joint base.

According to the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Facebook page, the 87th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team will perform an emergency detonation around 6:30 p.m.

The team responded to a call off base during which members retrieved a 45-pound UXO, or unexploded ordnance. The device will be detonated and disposed of at the joint base ranges this evening, and military officials say it could be a bit louder than the normal MDL training exercises.

"The detonation may be louder than our normal training booms, so don't be alarmed," the base states on its Facebook page.
