Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Prosecutor's Office told NJ Advance Media a Beach Haven resident walking along the shore between 78th and 79th streets in the Brant Beach section spotted the body around 6:43 a.m. Tuesday.

The body showed no signs of trauma and no foul play is suspected, according to Della Fave.

Investigators initially considered that it might be a suicide, but information gathered since then has led them to include accidental drowning as a possibility. According to a source close to the investigation, Creevy routinely took evening swims in the surf, after lifeguards had left posts for the day.

Della Fave said Creevy lived alone and had not been reported missing. His belongings and car were found in Surf City.

The medical examiner concluded the body was in the water at least eight hours before it was discovered, according to NJ Advance Media.
