When you take the family for a day out at the ballpark to see the Lakewood BlueClaws, you may have missed a simple yet powerful installation that honors American prisoners of war and soldiers who have been reported as missing in action.

It's a simple, empty seat on the concourse behind home plate. But the lone seat speaks volumes in honor of lost American soldiers.

Here's the plaque behind the seat:

The seat and plaque were installed and dedicated in a moving ceremony last summer, and will stand in silence at FirstEnergy Park as a reminder of the sacrifice that tens of thousands of Americans have made since World War II.

You can read more about the dedication ceremony from the Asbury Park Press by clicking here, and you can pay respects yourself right behind Section 109 at FirstEnergy Park.
