FRANKLIN (Somerset) — A 63-year-old township man died Friday night after his motorcycle struck a parked car, police said.

Son A. McCalla was riding north on Hillcrest Avenue before 11:16 p.m. when he lost control of his 2001 Yamaha and hit the rear of a parked vehicle, police said.

Investigators are trying to find out why McCalla lost control.

He was unconscious and not breathing when authorities arrived on scene in response to a 911 call.

The accident left the street near Dutton Street and Hillcrest Elementary School closed for four hours.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call township police Corporal Michael Deutchman at 732-873-5533 ext. 3110.
