There's going to be a rally tomorrow at the Sheraton Hotel in Eatontown just before a public hearing about a proposed liquified natural gas facility (LNG). A bi-state coalition of advocacy, environmental and recreation groups, as well as elected officials will be expressing their objection to placing the LNG terminal off the New Jersey/New York coast.

Rally Speakers will include representatives from Clean Ocean Action, Clean Water Action - New Jersey, Environment New Jersey, Food & Water Watch, Moms Clean Air Force, Point Pleasant Fisherman's Dock Cooperative, Surfrider Foundation - Mid-Atlantic Region, Sierra Club - New Jersey Chapter, Waterspirit and others.

The Proposed Port Ambrose LNG Facility that Liberty Natural Gas is hoping to build, would be for the import of LNG only. It would be located 28 miles off New Jersey's coast and 19 miles off Long Island and would require 21 miles of sea floor to be dug up for a new gas pipeline, according to a press release from Clean Ocean Action.

The rally starts at 5:30 pm. Then a public hearing will be held about the project immediately following the rally in the Concord Room of the Sheraton at 6 Industrial Way East, Eatontown, NJ 07724.
