Berkeley Township will be able to make some much needed improvements along some roads after their application to receive $340,000.00 in municipal aid was approved by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJ DOT).

The funds granted via the NJ DOT Municipal Aid Program will pay dividends especially for improvements along Fort De France Avenue.

This total estimated cost of the work will run approximately $420,000.00 with the balance of the funding coming from the townships 2018 Capital budget.

"I was pleased to receive notification from the Department of Transportation notifying us of the grant award. I want to thank the department for looking favorable upon our application and our Township Engineer Alan Dittenhofer for submitting our application," Mayor Carmen Amato said. "Berkeley Township is 42 square miles and has 271 miles of roadways including 300 Courts, cul-de-sacs and dead ends. We rely on alternate funding such as grants to assist the township in funding these capital projects."

"Grant funding, such as the Department of Transportation Municipal Aid Program, is critical to assisting the Township in maintaining our roadways," Councilman at Large John Bacchione, who serves as the Chairman of the Council's Finance Committee said.
