Berkeley Nursing Home Evacuated

Emergency crews from across our area spent the night in Berkeley Township after an apparent fuel spill at a nursing home facility.

About 250 residents had to be evacuated from Crystal Lake Healthcare and Rehabilitation in the Bayville area just before 10:00pm Thursday. They were sent to locations in both Ocean and Monmouth Counties.

Officials say several gallons of diesel fuel appears to have leaked from a generator, causing a noxious odor and a fire hazard. The incident remains under investigation.
