Ben & Jerry in NJ to offer free ice cream for Bernie Sanders

Feel the ice cream headache!

The founders of Ben & Jerry's will test the theory on Monday that the way to a potential Bernie Sanders voter is through their stomach.

Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, who hail from the senator's home state of Vermont, will hand out free of ice cream and register voters at Zeppelin Hall Restaurant & Biergarten, a German-American restaurant in Jersey City, Brower Commons at Rutgers University in New Brunswick and Norman Samuels Plaza at Rutgers-Newark.

The pair have been campaigning for the Democrat with similar ice cream events around the country in support of the self-described democratic socialist. "Bernie's Yearning" is a limited edition mint ice cream flavor created in Sanders' honor.

"The chocolate disk represents the huge majority of economic gains that have gone to the top 1 percent since the end of the recession,” according to the packaging.

"Jerry and I have been constituents of Bernie Sanders for the last 30 years. We’ve seen him in action and we believe in him," Cohen wrote on the website berniesyearning.com which he said is not associated with Ben & Jerry's or the Sanders presidential campaign.
