Jesse James Sauer, 25, faces charges for two Toms River house burglaries, and for taking and torching the truck, according to Toms River PD spokesman Ralph Stocco.

Sauer was apprehended July 12, five days after he allegedly scooped up cash and valuables in two houses in the township's Cranmoor section.

Police also allege that he took the 2003 Ford F-350 from the township's Money Island neighborhood on July 10. It was found in flames in a patch of woods in South Toms River the next morning.

Police said that a search warrant of Sauer's home produced the evidence needed to charge him with burglary and vehicle theft in Toms River. Next door, in South TomsRiver, Sauer is charged with aggravated arson, hindering, and destruction of evidence.

Sauer occupies a spot in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River until court proceedings begin.

Investigation involved members of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and Sheriff's Department, the county Fire Marshall, Toms River and South Toms River police, and Beachwood police and fire personnel.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
