Bayville motorcyclist hospitalized after Manchester crash
MANCHESTER - A Thursday collision on Route 530 here leaves a motorcyclist from Bayville hospitalized with a leg injury that township police call serious.
Robert Worden, 45, was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after treatment by Whiting First Aiders at the site of the crash.
Police were dispatched to the highway near Pine Ridge Boulevard at about 2:07 PM. According to investigators, Worden was headed east on the highway aboard a 2015 Harley Davidson.
As Worden approached the Pine Ridge Boulevard intersection, Raymond Brueno, 87, of Whiting, pulled his 2013 Hyundai Sonata onto the highway to turn left, across traffic.
Worden's bike hit the car's front end, slid across 530 and the berm on the roadside until it crashed into a landscape bed paver wall.
Police said that Brueno sustained no injury and was released. Whiting volunteer firefighters assisted.
Patrolman Paul Bachovchin of the Traffic Safety Unit heads investigations into the incident. Police haven't indicated whether either driver is subject to road violation citations.
