How many of you knew that arguably the greatest high school basketball player in recent Ocean County history is now an assistant coach with the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets?

Chris Fleming graduated from Lacey Township High School in 1988 after a career which saw him score over 2200 points and average 32 points a game in his senior season playing for coach John Macintosh.  Fleming spent a short time at Connecticut before transferring to the University of Richmond and upon graduation spent six years playing professionally in Germany.

He began his coaching career there and in 14 seasons won numerous championships and in 2011 was named German Coach of the Year.  The 46-year old Forked River native returned to the United States to become an assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets in 2015 before joining Kenny Atkinson’s staff in Brooklyn before this season.  Fleming and Atkinson were college teammates at Richmond.
