Gov. Chris Christie is probably accustomed to hearing Bridgegate jokes wherever he goes. But actor Joel McHale, hosting the White House Correspondents Dinner Saturday night, may have raised the bar for carefully researched Bridgegate comedy.
Gov. Chris Christie has announced the resignation of David Samson as chairman of the Port Authority. He did so at the start of a news conference at the Statehouse this afternoon, his first since a marathon session Jan. 9 to address the unfolding Bridgegate scandal.
The news conference follows the Thursday release of a report, commissioned by his office, which clears him of any personal involvement in the controversial lane-closings at the George Washington Bridge last September.
An internal Bridgegate report places the blame for the controversial lane closings at the George Washington Bridge and an ensuing coverup entirely on former Port Authority official David Wildstein and former Christie aide Bridget Kelly.
