Early Christmas Eve morning one Asbury Park resident suffered burns on half of his body from a detached garage that was set on fire.

It was reported by Asbury Park police officials that the fire occurred on Fourth Avenue in Asbury Park.

The garage was holding oxygen and acetylene tanks that caught on fire, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation according to Asbury Park Fire Chief Kevin Keddy.

The victim was first transferred to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and later sent St. Barnabas Hospitals burn unit located in Livingston.

Kenny said the victim used the garage to work on vehicles. The fire was contained and didn't affect the main structure of the home.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
