Police allege that Lamecca Ellenwood, 29, was involved in a shoplifting incident that grew into a robbery Saturday in the Dollar Tree at Seaview Square, before she and Marquel Carter, 24, were implicated in shoplifting later at Wegman's.

Officer Raheem Carter spotted the pair loading unbagged groceries into a car, and determined that the goods, valued at $247.67, were taken from the supermarket. Processing at police headquarters revealed active arrest warrants for both, authorities said.

Officers also determined that Ellenwood's description matched that of a woman involved in the Dollar Tree incident.

Ellenwood is charged with robbery, shoplifting, obstruction and possession of burglary tools. Her bail was set at $12,500. Carter faces counts of shoplifting and possession of burglary tools, with bail set at $7,500.

Neither was given the option of release on payment of 10 percent, and both were transferred to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold.

The 2010 Chevrolet Impala, believed to have been used in the robbery, was impounded pending civil forfeiture proceedings.
