Asbury Park Man is Indicted for Impersonating a Police Officer

A Grand Jury indicts an Asbury Park man for impersonating a police officer in Howell Township. 41-year-old Derrick Parreott, who's a former Asbury Park Cop, was charged following a February traffic stop where he falsely identified himself as a police officer and presented credentials to that effect.

The Monmouth County Prosecutors office say ironically, the incident took place on the one-year anniversary of Parreott's termination from the force.

In addition to the fourth degree offense, Parreott also faces several motor vehicle violations that include no inspection decal, improper passing on the right shoulder and failure to make repairs.
