An Asbury Park man faces attempted murder and weapons charges in the March 23rd shooting of a Neptune resident.

According to the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office, 23-year-old Eli Dennis was charged Friday with allegedly pumping several bullets into the body of a 22-year-old man who was found lying near dumpsters behind a corner grocery store on George Street in Neptune.

The Prosecutors office says that Neptune Township Police found the man lying on the ground after responding to multiple 9-1-1 calls at around 8:58 p.m. reporting shots fired in the area of George Street and Monroe Avenue.

It was a joint investigation by Neptune Township Police and the Monmouth County Prosecutors office that led to Dennis' arrest. He's in the Monmouth County Jail on $750-thousand dollars bail with no option to post 10 percent.
