Arrest made in vandalism at Lacey Township High School
Lacey police have arrested a 17-year-old Township boy for allegedly causing $2,500 worth of damage to freshly painted art murals in the Lacey High School parking lot earlier this month by spinning truck tires over them.
The teen, from the Forked River section, was charged by Detectives Robert Surtees and Michael Eden on Monday with criminal mischief, reckless driving, driving without a license, and operating an unregistered vehicle, according to police.
Police received a call on August, 10, 2016 about the murals being damaged. They were painted by students as a fundraising effort in 20 parking spaces.
The Lacey Board of Education and High School Administration today are holding a community event in the High School parking lot from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., as several students and staff members will repaint the damaged murals.
