Ocean County officials have arrested a 20 year old Toms River man in connection with the early morning stabbing of a man in a Seaside Heights apartment.

Seaside Heights Police responded to call an apartment building on Franklin Avenue at around five in the morning, upon arriving they found 40 year old Jeffery Coward suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Michael Eddy Jr. faces attempted murder and robbery charges after police found him in the back yard of a home on Franklin Avenue with a tactical knife next to him.

Al Della Fave from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says Coward is at Monmouth Medical Center where he is in critical condition.

After interview Eddy and two residents of the apartment, authorities learned Eddy and Coward were visiting the apartment. After Eddy left, the unit's tenants and Coward went to sleep. Eddy then allegedly returned with the intentions of robbing Coward and while reaching into Coward's pockets, woke him, causing a struggle resulting in Coward being stabbed. Eddy then broke free and was found nearby.
